Help Section

We've prepared this section to help customers get the perfect A1 print. Most queries we receive are about about artwork prep.

If you are unsure - simply upload your artwork for a FREE artwork check.

A1 Photo Preparation

If you are simply wanting us to print you an A1 photo, then all we need is a photo in a high resolution as possible, ideally taken at over 6mp. Photos that have been re-sized or edited for the web normally will normally not be suitable. Please either crop the image to the correct dimentions below or we will crop it as we see fit.

Graphic A1 Poster Artwork Preparation

Preparing artwork in the correct way is essential to ensuring that you recieve a good print. If you follow these basic steps, then there will be no issues with your print. Note that other printers may have different specifications to us.

  • Design all artwork at 300dpi - this ensures your A1 poster will come out pixel perfect
  • We require no bleeds and no crop marks - so please dont add any!
  • Design at an exact canvass size of 840 x 594mm where possible
  • RGB or CMYK is good for us!
  • We recommend that if your artwork contains photos - or other imagery that cannot be enlarged, that you design your artwork using a canvass size 25% of an A1 poster size 210 x 148.5mm. We will then scale up the artwork for you, ensuring the imagergy stays crisp
  • Export your artwork as a PDF - on the highest settings. Please do not send native artwork files e.g. PSD's, AI's, EPS etc. High res jpeg's and Tiff's are also accepted - PDF's are preferred though!
  • Although for many, the above steps are very simple. But the main reason for order delays is when incorrect artwork is supplied, please take the time to read the above information. If you are unsure about anything, get in touch!

    DIY Artwork Prepartion

We recommend that (where your budget allows) you use a professional design service. A professional graphic designer will be able to add the wow factor to your ideas - and ensure that all the correct artwork specification's are adhered too. We also understand that many people will want to design their own artwork to keep costs down.

If you are designing the poster yourself, we recommend that you at least use a professional design pakage - many professional packages have trial versions of their software which may suffice.

One of the most common design packages is Adobe Photoshop. This will provide the platform for you to design up a print ready poster.

    Desiging Artwork in Publisher

Publisher isn't the best program for design, but it comes bundled with many computers and office programs. This means we get quite a number of people wanting to use Publisher to design posters.

When you save your file, save as a "JPEG File Interchange Format" (note Publisher causes rasterized fonts to print jagged or pixilated), click the “Change” button above the file name and ensure to choose “Commercial Printing (300 dpi)” from the menu.

Please note that Publisher isn't great to work with for commerical printers - but we do understand that sometimes it's the only option. If we believe your design will not come out right, we will inform you as part of our free artwork check.
